Finding a therapist is hard.
This site may be the tenth therapy page you have been to because you haven’t found the person you connect with, feel comfortable sharing with, or have the right experience to fit your needs. I want to validate those concerns.
Maybe this is your first time in therapy, and you aren’t quite sure what you are looking for or what to expect. Perhaps you’ve been in therapy before, made a lot of progress in many areas, and are finally ready to tackle your traumatic past.
You have come to the right place!
Internal Family Systems (IFS) can help address past trauma.
Clients of RES Counseling Services explore their past trauma through an Internal Family Systems (IFS) perspective using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) as the targeting mechanism to bring about healing.
Through IFS, you can explore your inner self and the parts of you that make up your personality. You will understand the why behind your reactions to stress.
IFS can help you identify parts of your younger self that continue to hurt from previous trauma. You can get to know the parts that you developed to protect you in every situation.
You will gain greater self-leadership, self-esteem, and self-efficacy and solidify your self-concept.
Learn to relieve stress.
While working with me, you will finally understand why you react in specific ways in situations of stress that haven’t served you well and will learn to guide these parts to respond helpfully and healthily.
You will learn to listen to each part instead of ignoring them and help them to integrate in a way that serves you to move forward in a healthy way. The wounded parts of you that hold onto the pain of your past will feel seen, cared for, and finally be able to heal.
Through IFS, you will be made whole and empowered to truly live instead of being held back by trauma. If ‘trauma’ is not a word you connect with, you are still in the right place.
We have all experienced events that have shaped how we think, feel, behave, and react to different situations and have defined how we see ourselves. IFS will help you transform your self-concept, relationships, and interactions with your world.
Overcome troubling memories.
EMDR is a powerful tool to target specific memories from your past that have contributed to the triggers, reactions, behaviors, and self-concept you experience in the present day. These memories hold you back from living the life you want to live.
We will thoroughly examine the history of trauma in your life. Then, you will learn tools to strengthen your coping and mindfulness skills as we identify the memories you want to target.
IFS will help you integrate those parts – allowing for systematic desensitization and reexamining of each troubling memory. This approach will bring healing and the ability to live a life free of trauma.
Couples also benefit from therapy.
In working with couples, I work from a trauma-based perspective.
Everyone has stuff that has informed their thoughts, feelings, reactions, likes, dislikes, mannerisms, and a past that they bring into their relationship. And when both people bring in their stuff, relationships can get complicated.
I use IFS and The Gottman Method of Couples Therapy for couples. Both have had evidence-based success in healing relationships and building a solid foundation and path forward.
When a couple lets go of their traumatic past, they can create a bright future together!
Transformation is the ultimate goal.
People who come to RES Counseling Services are looking for transformation.
Imagine getting glasses and truly seeing every leaf and the vibrant colors on a magnificent tree for the first time. That is what a life free of trauma is like.
The transformation will change the way you think, how you see yourself, the relationships in your life, and the way you interact with the world around you. If this sounds like the life you want, I am here for all of it.
About Me
Hi! I’m Rachael.
I’m a person like you who experienced many challenging situations throughout my childhood and adult life, some of which did not set me up to thrive.
I decided I wanted something different and that my survival through these experiences could help others. This desire led me to discover social work. Over the last 15 years, I have worked hard to help people live a life they can be proud of and help them to obtain the resources and support they need.
My experience has varied from working with adults with disabilities, community resource navigation, domestic violence, sexual assault, children’s behavioral health, school counseling, hospice and palliative care, community mental health, and private mental health.
These experiences taught me that the most meaningful way for people to live and thrive is to confront their past trauma holistically and compassionately. As a result, I became a trauma therapist. I find great passion and fulfillment in guiding people along this journey so they can discover their true selves and create a life worth living.
I am so glad you stopped by. I hope to hear from you soon so we can get started on the next chapter of your journey!
Credentials to support my work…
In 2013, I received my Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Metropolitan State University of Denver, and in 2019, I obtained my Master of Social Work Degree from Walden University.
I am a Colorado Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW – License Number: CSW. 09928478).
Something personal…
I love coffee and Jesus with a passion. My husband is in the Armed Forces, and I have three children so my after-school life is busy! However, I will always squeeze in time for coffee dates, binge-watching the Food Network and romcoms, listening to audiobooks, campaigning with my Dungeons & Dragons crew, and enjoying all of the beauty that Colorado has to offer!
